Lodging in Inverness?

Hi all -- apologies if this has been covered elsewhere!
I'm flying into Inverness in mid-May, arriving around 12:30p, and would love to get a cheap hotel for a couple hours if possible, overnight if not, to catch up jet lag and shower, etc. I've done this near the airport in Dublin Ireland, and wondering if this is something available in Inverness?

If not -- does anyone have recommendations for a decent but not crazy pricey hotel in Inverness for one-two nights?

thanks!

Hi, Carolineandcats,

As long as you're not bringing the cats with you, you can have several options in Inverness. There are several Premier Inns in Inverness; the farther away you are from the city center, the less expensive they are. We've stayed at the Premier Inn near Raigmore Hospital. It's clean and comfortable; there is a restaurant on site; and there's a 24 hour Tesco within walking distance. Plus you can catch the bus in to town very easily. There is another Premier Inn on Nessbank, next to the Ness Bridge. There are two other Premier Inns in Inverness; one on Millburn Road, on the way in to town; and the other on the western outskirts of town.

Travelodge is another possibility. We recently stayed at the Travelodge Inverness Fairways. It was much better than we remembered. In 30 nights of staying in hotels, B&Bs and hostels during the summer, the Travelodge was the only place we stayed that provided a fan in the room. There is a Travelodge closer to town, and also one closer to the airport. Even though we stayed at the Travelodge in mid-July, the cost was surprisingly cheap, compared to other lodging in Inverness.

Best thing to do would be to check the reviews on TripAdvisor, then compare prices.

Good luck!

There's a small B&B with airport transportation if you only want to relax and shower. It's the Moray Bay B&B. We booked there for the night before we fly out of Inverness. Price was reasonable, but the airport transportation sealed the deal for us.

I stayed at Glasdair House in 2014. It was a very nice B&B and quite reasonably priced at the time.

Hi there
Whenever we fly out of Inverness we stay at the Holiday Inn Express. It's probably the closest hotel to the airport, being around a 10 minute drive. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but other options on the retail park which is right next door. I rate it as being better that Travelodge or Premier Inn for just a few pounds more. The breakfast is free, as is the wifi and there is air conditioning in the rooms.
