We will be in Scotland after Ireland. 2 couples looking for lodging in Glencoe, Sky, Inverness. Probably few days in each. Any recommendations for BnBs, vrbo, hotel. Thanks.
When is this? Skye (with an e) books up way ahead.
Any chance you’ve purchase and reviewed the RA guide books for Eire and Scotland?
Loads of practical intel in both. Even accommodation recommendations.
Also have you used the search component on this website. Suspect you’ll discover some housing info for the areas.
Good Luck
We have stayed twice at Kingshouse Hotel in Glencoe. It also has an excellent restaurant.
It would be very helpful to provide a budget in British Pounds per room. Also, approximate dates. Are you traveling this year or next?
We stayed at Drumorell BnB in Portree. It was a 5 minute walk down the hill to downtown Portree. Great BnB. I got the name of Catriona Matheson, the owner from another BnB that had no room for us but recommended her friend.
There isn't a lot of accommodation actually in or around Glencoe itself, so unless you book really early, you may need to look further afield.
In Glencoe we loved staying at The Glencoe Inn. It's located across the street from Loch Leven. Our room was small but clean and nicely decorated. The Inn has a wonderful restaurant, The Gathering, where we had dinner one night. I highly recommend. There were 4 of us, and we all loved our meals.
On Skye, we stayed at the Viewfield House Hotel in Portree. This hotel is a Victorian mansion built 200 years ago. The grounds and view are beautiful; you feel like you are on an oasis away from bustling Portree. Our room and bathroom were huge! Our included breakfast was delicious. You select what you want the day before (a hot meal), and there is also a small buffet set up.
We didn't stay in Inverness; instead, we stayed in the seaside village of Nairn. You might want to consider Nairn. We loved our stay at the Sunny Brae B&B. It was our favorite place of our entire vacation. The rooms are very pretty and spacious; and the views are beautiful overlooking a gorgeous park and the Moray Firth.
