I loved the music play list recommendations. I will be going on the RS Scotland Tour and plan on being in Edinburgh an extra few days. I would like to soak up all the arts I can find. Recommendations for live Scot traditional or folk music in Edinburgh or Inverness??
Not sure if you still are looking for info, but...
We were in Edinburgh last summer. I wanted to catch some local Trad but had n idea where to go. We just asked at the concierge desk in our hotel. They recommended a pub just a couple blocks away (just off the main touristy street, the Royal Mile): Sandy Bell's.

We sat down and...O.M.G....I could not believe the music - it was astonishing! This place is a real gem, with a long history, and - at least when we were there - really, really incredibly great music. For me, it was the highlight of a trip filled with lots of other great things. Do not miss it!

have a look at the Edinburgh folk club, they usually have events on a Wednesday night.
lots of other stuff going on so look at the List for Edinburgh and you should get some good info.

Sandy bells as has been mentioned is a great place. The Tass on the Royal mile is also a good place for folk music but it has been a while since I was in there.Whistlebinkies, the Mitre and the Advocate in the same general area also have live music on though not always folk music .
There is quite a bit of live music in Inverness. Hootananny usually has traditional music. You can get a pub dinner and hear some great music. Here are some other suggestions. You might also explore the GigGuide for both places.
And if you need a place to stop off between Inverness and Edinburgh, The Taybank has great sessions.
Thanks to everyone who replied!! Looking forward to reading over your ideas!1 Thanks.
