least travel congested route from Skye bridge to go to Culloden Battlefield,

Hi all, I realized ,last night I planned our short 6 day trip clockwise from Edinburgh to Glen Coe to Skye to Edinburgh which is not the best direction. So questions on realistic itinerary routes. We are Departing from Skye Oct 6 with the goals of seeing Donan Castle for a short bit, Culloden Battlefield with arriving in Pitlochry in advance of an 8pm Enchanted Forest ticket time what is the optimized route to avoid traffic congestion and ideally be scenic - we don't need to do Inverness or Loch Ness but would love to be able to do a short walk along the way to absorb the scenery. and maybe stopping for a scenic walk is better between Culloden Battlefield and Pitlochry? Thanks.

We used the A890 and A835 through Inverness two weeks ago and loved the drive. There is a short stretch of single track the first part of the drive, but there was very little traffic compared to using the A87 that we drove going to Skye. Going around Inverness is basically a four lane bypass of the town. I will mention that the A9 heading south is a very busy road all the way to Pitlochry (and further to Edinburgh).

Portree to Culloden on the journey planner is 2 hrs 46 minutes via the above route- allow 3 1/2 hours. Although well past the half way point Garve and Contin are both nice places IMO for a walk.

So leave Portree at 8am, you should be at Culloden by 12 noon.

Then 1 hour 37 minutes (say 2 hours) from Culloden to Pitlochry.

So if you spend say 2 hours at Culloden (including your lunch) an 8am departure from Portree gets you to Pitlochry by about 4pm.
