Kennacraig to Oban Drive

Not knowing your previous and following plans along with what you like makes it hard to make good suggestions. Food suggestions need to know where you'll be at lunchtime.

There are numerous cafes along the route. The Seafood Hut in Oban is near the Oban ferry if that's your destination.

Re food - I don’t think you can do better than stop at the lovely Loch Melfort Hotel.Beautiful location, a gem of a place and we’ve always enjoyed the food whether just coffee and cake or dinner (we’ve stayed a few times.) It’s right beside Arduaine Gardens though they are at their best in spring/early summer when the magnificent Rhododendron collection is at its best.

Before that, can also potentially detour to the Crinan Hotel which is in a lovely, very picturesque location and also does food in the bar area.I’ve never found it the friendliest place but it is a gorgeous spot.

Haven’t been in to the cafe at Kilmartin Museum since the whole place re-opened but it used to be a good tea/coffee stop.

How far do you mean when you say ‘hikes?’ There are many options beyond short strolls (eg to Dunadd or Tarbert Castle.)

Thank you for the suggestions. We will be traveling on after our RS Tour. And, are looking for any suggestions as we think about being free to travel now that we are retired and free to wander at our own speed and whim.

Hikes can be up to 6-8 miles. We are well-seasoned hikers. Having said that, looking straight down over the side of a walking path is not ideal. In the woods or with a wider path is best for comfort level. We love a good elevation, though.

Walkhighlands is a great resource for checking out walks.The hike below starts off on an excellent track albeit its slightly north of Oban.We’ve done it a few times and it gives excellent views though can be boggy in one spot as you cross the moorland.But you don’t need to do the whole thing.I’ve not done many of the hikes between Kennacraig and Oban apart from the shorter options of Tarbert Castle, Stonefield Castle Hotel, Dunadd/Kilmartin Glen and around Crinan.

That sounds great. We will check out the website. We will be staying in Benderloch. We plan on checking out the hiking and seeing the picturesque sights along the way.
