Hello! I am planning a first-time trip to the Orkney Islands the first week of May, roughly May 1-7, after the Heart of Scotland tour. I am trying to decide if we should spend 5-7 days there? Or is that more than enough? Thanks for your help!

A lot depends on what you are planning to do and if you are intending to use ferries to visit some of the islands eg Rousay or Hoy.
We spent 8 days there a few years back including a day trip to Rousay. That was possibly a day too much, so 5-7 days should be fine.
May will be a lovely time. The wild flowers will be coming into bloom and the puffins will have arrived.
