Isle of Skye or Isle of Mull

Planning a 2-week trip to Scotland and Wales, and will start in Edinburgh.
Most forums say that Isle of Skye is the #1 place to visit in Scotland.
However, many say that Mull is a better choice: fewer crowds, more activities, shorter distance from Edinburgh.
Am I missing out if I don't go to Skye?

We have been to both Mull and Skye. To me they are very different.

It really depends on what you are looking for. We stayed away from the crowded areas of both. On Mull, we stayed in a B&B near Dervaig. From there we could scoot over to Tobermory, which is a charming little town. Also, there is a spectacular road from Dervaig that runs down the western coast to Iona. The scenery is gorgeous and we saw maybe three other cars.

On Skye we stayed well north, near Stein. From there we visited Dunvegan, Uig and the Quiraing. Southern Skye is more touristy.

Howl long will you have to visit Skye and Mull? What time of year will you be going? We spent two days on each, but I would love to spend at least three days minimum on either.
