Islay 3 Distillery walk

Does anyone know if the three distilleries offer "to go" samples for folks in a car? I think we'll be staying in Bowmore, and the option of using the bus is pretty time constraining. Taxis are a third option.

We spent 5 days on Islay last summer, with a car. We visited Lagevulin, Bowmore, Kilchoman and Laphroaig, plus some others. Each of the distilleries had tasting options. Be aware that there must be a designated driver, who gets a “to go” sample kit of (usually) 3 products. The distilleries are located in beautiful surroundings, especially Kilchoman. I highly suggest a visit there. You will need a car for your convenience for visiting both the distilleries and sightseeing. And make dinner reservations in advance!

I don't know which distilleries you plan to visit as a number of them can be visited.

Of the main names,

Bowmore does "driver's drams" on request as does Laphroaig. Don't know about Lagavulin but I have been to three other distillieries owned by Diageo and they all did, so it would seem likely. Not sure about any others.

If you have paid for a tour or tasting, then 'drivers drams' will be available for the person unable to drink at that point. If you are literally just showing up at the distillery then it's not as likely they will give something out - though you can of course purchase minatures (50mL), at least from Ardbeg and Laphroaig - albeit usually only the standard expressions. I don't think, from memory, Lagavulin sell regular miniatures.
