My brother and I will be taking the train from Edinburg to Inverness in early July. We will be in Inverness for just a day and a half (without a car) and would love some ideas on tour suggestions
Thank you!

Hi, mmtroyer,
Is your half day the day you arrive? If so, I'd recommend a walk down the east bank of the river, cross over to the Ness Islands, then cross over to the west bank of the river. From there, you can walk farther south on the footpath next to the Caledonian Canal. Or you can walk up to the Tomnahurich Cemetery, then back down to Ness Walk, which you'd follow northward to the footbridge across the river, then back to town.
After that short to medium length excursion, you could have dinner in town, then enjoy some live folk music at The Gellions on Bridge Street, before retiring for the night.
On your full day, I'd recommend catching the earliest Scotrail train for Plockton, exploring the village, enjoying a meal there, then catching the last train (5:26 p.m.) back to Inverness. That would give you about six hours on the ground in Plockton, plus seeing some marvelous scenery along the way. If it's not pissing down rain, you could take a one hour boat trip with Calum's Seal Cruises. (Guaranteed to see wildlife, or your money refunded!)
Anyway, given a day and a half in Inverness, that's what I'd do. Others will have different suggestions.
Best wishes, and safe travels.

We just returned from Scotland and spent two nights in Inverness. We did do the Rabbies - Isle of Skye tour. We normally adventure on our own, but due to our time limitations and not knowing the area, we opted for the smaller tour bus. It was a good way to see the the Isle of Skye and everything leading up to it. it is a 12-hour adventure, but we packed it all in. They make many stops and let you walk around on your own.
Thanks for your wonderful suggestions!
