Inverness to Perth or through Aberdenn, on way to Edinburgh

When we leave Inverness, on our first Scottish trip on the way to Edinburgh finally, is it best to go to Aberdeen or straight to Perth, through the National Park. One route is further than the other to spend the night but where is there more worth seeing. Would appreciate any suggestions from those who know the area. Thanks a lot,

From a scenery point of view and not spending as long on the A9 racetrack going via Tomintoul,Braemar (Linn of Dee(side trip) and then over Glenshee is a much more pleasant route.
