Inverness to Oban on a Sunday

I searched and saw older posts about traveling this route, so apologies, but just trying to see if there’s any new info or anything that I’m missing. I need to get from Inverness to Oban on a Sunday in May. I am trying to get to Oban by ~ 15:00, and avoid spending the entire day on a train or bus.

Looking at Citylink, it appears I can get there in 5.5 hours with a couple of changes. Is that my best bet? Are those buses typically pretty reliable/timely?

Nothing has changed, in that there is no Fort William to Oban bus on a Sunday so bus or train you have to route via Glasgow. So it is the 0810 bus arriving at 1534.
Later in the Summer things may change when Ember open depots at Oban and Inverness, but not yet.
The buses are as timely as other traffic allows. If the road has congestion or a RTC closure there isn't a lot they can do about it. But the Glasgow connection of 45 minutes is pretty robust.
Citylink to Fort William then the 1140 train changing at Crianlarich is a slightly faster option, arriving at 1541.
It worries me that Citylink via Fort William and Tyndrum is NOT an official connection. It exists in theory but not officially. They think it is too tight.
