Inverness or small village

Last minute planning and another idea. I have 3 1/2 days between my time in Glasgow and checking in for a week at Iona.
Doesn't look like Glencoe will work. What about train to Inverness? Could then take the bus to Oban. Or is there a small village
that would be fun for a 3 day stay. Looking for local flavor, a little hiking, etc.

A few miles east of Inverness is the small town of Nairn which is known for being the driest/sunniest place in Scotland. It's near Cawdor Castle, Culloden battlefield, and Clava Cairns. It has a beach, golf courses, nice streets for walking. We stayed at a B&B called Tali Ayer and I recommend it, but there are many others too.

To the west, directly on the route from Glasgow to Oban, there's the village of Luss on the shore of Loch Lomond, and the town of Inveraray on the shore of Loch Fyne.
