Our cruise ship will call at Invergordon on Friday, June 30 from 8:00 to 5:00. We visited the main sites in the area on Rick's Scotland tour several years ago, so instead of an all-day bus tour of sites we would like transportation to Inverness and back with free time to explore. Does anyone know about transportation options? Of course, we could buy a bus transfer from the cruise line, but it is expensive and allows less than 3 hours in Inverness.

There is a bus service operated by Stagecoach North Scotland that takes c 40 minutes. The drive would be c 30 minutes by taxi, so you don't save much time. The train is less frequent and takes longer.
