Two seventy somethings, fairly well preserved, traveling to Scotland in September for 2 to 3 weeks. Definitely want to go to Edinburgh for at least a week and spend 2 to 3 days on the Isle of Skye. Will be relying on public transport. It seems that accommodations on the Isle are pretty much already booked, so would we be better off hooking up with a tour company, say in Edinburgh that will take us there and where accommodations are included? Any tour companies that you would recommend as well as any other suggestions with regard to getting to Skye and finding a place to stay? Also, any suggested itineraries for the 2 to 3 weeks would be much appreciated. We enjoy strolls, easy walking, museums, music, castles, etc. Thanks in advance.
Rabbies Tours are well recommended on this Forum. They do scheduled small group (10-13 people) tours from Edinburgh and I think they might do private tours. You can get to Skye by train but you really need a car on the Isle to get around.
