Hunterian Museum

All,

We're planning to visit Hunterian Museum 7/30. Is it best to go early? Are there number limits - meaning do they allow only a set number of persons in at one time?

I last visited the Hunterian a few years ago , pre - pandemic . At that time . there were no entrance limits . Having taken a quick look at the website , there do not appear to be any restrictions as of now . While I'm obviously unaware of the reason for your visit , I' ll advance a suggestion - A major location of great importance for me was The Mackintosh House . This is a complete replication , right down to the furniture and associated interiors that the architect and designer , Charles Rennie Mackintosh , designed . along with his wife and partner , Margaret MacDonald as their home in Glasgow at the turn of the century ( 1900) . The place is striking , and if you are a Mackintosh lover , it is essential . The Kelvingrove Museum .just to the south of The Hunterian is also a very worthwhile visit , with its Mackintosh collection , and work of The School of the Scottish Colorists . If you would like to learn more about The Mackintosh's , this 45 minute BBC documentary is a must - https://youtu.be/LNrV6vbu4os

When I was in Glasgow in 2019, the timing issue was the Mackintosh house. Quarters there are fairly tight. And now with COVID, they may be stricter.

I have been a number of times and there are never that many people within - so I would be surprised if you found an issue. They are open Tuesday to Sunday. Do note the zoology section has a temporary closure - unclear why or when it will reopen

I am presuming as you have posted in Scotland you mean the Glasgow version. The information and weblink provided by someone else is about the London Hunterian so wouldn't apply.

I was just there in May and had no problem getting in right away. There were some people there but it was certainly not crowded at all. I don't know what summer will be like but I can't imagine it would be too much of a crowd based on what I saw.
