We would like to travel from Edinburgh to Balquihidder for the day, but we do not have a rental car. It will be in August. Is it possible to hire someone for the day to drive us?
Any suggestions?
Traveline Scotland suggests train to Stirling, bus to Callander, and then another bus. Takes 3 hours one way. Hope there is something better.
I'd suggest you invest in a phone call to one or more of the hotels in the immediate area (Monachyle Mhor, Ben Sheann, and/or White Stag) and ask them if they can recommend a driver who would pick you up at the Stirling train station, or if not then at the Callender bus stop. You are probably not the first out-of-towners needing a car service to get there and back.
You could also Google "taxi companies Callander Scotland" which will bring up results like the following https://www.thomsonlocal.com/Taxis/in/Callander-Perthshire/
