I would like to request some suggestions for hotels in the city center area.We will be without a car. We're interested in seeing historical sites and museums.
Thanks
I stayed at the Piper's Tryst Hotel, next to the bagpiper museum in downtown Glasgow for 3 nights. I thought it was delightful. Very few rooms, GREAT location & lovely staff. They will book up early, good value for money and not many rooms! https://www.thepipingcentre.co.uk/hotel.
I believe they served breakfast. 5PM taps is played in lobby of piper museum next door, museum was mildly interesting. I walked everywhere in the city center.
Hi, rflan51,
Another possibility is the Premier Inn City Centre, which is on George Street, two blocks from George Square. It's about six blocks from the Buchanan Street bus station, so a short taxi ride, or a long walk if you're loaded down with luggage.
The PI is in a good central location for visiting historical sites and museums, of which Glasgow has many. The PI is also reasonably priced, especially if you reserve well in advance.
Enjoy Glasgow!
Best wishes,
Mike (Auchterless)
We stayed at Motel One. Surprisingly nice for the price.
We've stayed at Argyll House right near Kelvingrove, and next month are staying at The Kelvingrove Hotel (which is NOT close to the Kelvingrove campus). Both are inexpensive and Argyll was just fine.
Another vote for Motel One. Very clean, quiet. Great front desk staff. Wonderful breakfasts (not included though).
We stayed at the Citizen M, which was very convenient for Celtic Connections performances at the Royal Concert Hall, and convenient for sightseeing in general (short bus ride to the West End).
