Hotels in Edinburgh

Hi I'm looking for a good clean hotel for June 2017 for three nights. Do not want to spend no more than $350 total in American dollars. I'm m looking at Premier Inn Edinburgh city center royal mile. Is this a good one? Any other suggestions. I would like to be close to attractions like the castle shopping Carlton hill etc. my tours also leave from that area.

Thanks

Teani.

You may want to consider staying in the Dalkeith area and taking a simple, cheap bus ride to the Royal mile. We stayed at Kenvie guest house a few years ago, run by the Vidlers. Traditional, basic - clean rooms, excellent - friendly service, great traditional breakfast. The bus is easy to get.

I like the Inverlieth Hotel. It's short bus ride or a longer walk up from near the Royal Botanic Gardens. I like getting away from the madness of The Royal Mile.

good area in the heart of the new town. loads of restaurants bar etc, in the area.Easy to walk to the old town and Calton Hill. many tours leave from Waterloo Place or Waverley Bridge and again all easily walkable.loads of buses and the Tram nearby too.

The Premier Hotel near Haymarket station has a giant construction site right next door. Noisy and dirty.

Maybe by next June it will be finished and back to normal. 😊

Do you think I should cancel my reservation and pick somewhere else?

I thought you had booked the Castle View, and that is a good 800yards from Haymarket.
if you are thinking of Premier Inn at the Royal Mile then that is at least a mile from Haymarket.

Yes I have already bookedthe Castle guest house. So that is not close to where the other person was talking about right? I don't want to be next to a big construction project.

No where you are is perfect for you, you will pass Haymarket on your way on the tram and see the construction area, no buildings at the moment just clearing the ground and putting I utilities and roads. You have no worries about any construction in your area.

I've stayed in that Premier Inn twice (2013 and 2014). It's well-worn but adequate, a bit below average for the Premier Inn chain. The price was reasonable, the location great, and has parking and can be reached by main roads. So it worked for us.
