Hotels in Edinburgh

We’re staying in Edinburgh for a few nights at the end of July. I was thinking of staying near St. Andrew’s Square, but some hotel reviews make it sound like the area is really noisy. Can anyone recommend a hotel in the area (preferably one less than $300/night.)

Thanks

I stayed in the Ibis Styles on St Andrew Square last June. It was awesome - very nice staff, awesome included breakfast although the rooms are small. I did not find it noisy at all. My room faced the back of the hotel. It may not be in your price range. IF you book, go thru the Accor app (hotel group). I somehow got on a travel agent site and they were charging me a "fee" of more than one night in the hotel. I was able to cancel without penalty and rebooked thru the official app.

I also stayed a couple of nights at the Parliament House Hotel which is not on Saint Andrew Square but within walking distance. I found it more noisy from a bus stop across the Main Street from the back of this hotel as well as spill over from a restaurant.

I also had recommendations for the Premier Inn York Place but decided I liked the look of ST Andrew Square better. Lots of nice restaurants around the square.

In 2023 we stayed at the boutique hotel Tigerlily in New Town about a 10 minute walk to St. Andrews Square. We booked 2 comfy and quiet rooms that included a wonderful breakfast and great amenities. The decor of the hotel made my artsy friend very happy.

I loved New Town and that area around Saint Andrews Square, and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there. It was lovely and green with flowers and lots of trees and people wandering around and nice restaurants and so many fewer tourists and crowds than Old Town.

I stayed at the Premier Inn on York Place which is about a block away from the Square, and it was a great location but I was also up around Saint Andrews Square a lot. It did not seem really noisy to me and if I go back, I would probably stay at the Ibis that Pam recommended.
