Thank you!
I stayed at the Motel One Princes Street location this past Sept. It was great. Better than I expected. They were just finishing up with a remodel. So, everything was nice and new.

The Royal Mile and Dean's Village are about a 25 minute walk apart. I easily walked everywhere.
We stayed at the Radisson Blu Oct 2024 which is on the Royal Mile. It was easily walkable to the Palace of Holyrood House, Edinburgh Castle, Arthurs seat. We didn't have time to go to Dean's Village but it is a 15-20 minute walk from the Radisson.
We stayed at the Ibis Hotel at St. Andrew's Square, and we really enjoyed our stay here. The location is very convenient. We walked everywhere, such as to the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, the National Museum of Scotland, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. Our room was clean, a little on the small side but that is typical of the UK and Europe. The included breakfast buffet is filling and very good, and the staff is very helpful and welcoming. No complaints at all! Oh, and we walked to all the restaurants we dined at.

I suggest the Resident Edinburgh.
It's about a five minute walk to Deans Village and a 20 minute walk to the center of the Royal Mile.
I'll 2nd kmkwoo's recommendation of the Ibis Styles Saint Andrew Square. I stayed there last June and enjoyed the location a lot. The room was very small but staff was excellent and the breakfast buffet tempted me even though I am not a breakfast eater, lol! I walked to the National Museum of Scotland from there as well as the National Museum of Art. I did not make it to Dean Village but had the walking route plotted out to there and the botanical garden.
I stayed in the Kingsway Guest House and recommend it.
We too stayed at the Ibis Styles as well last Spring and has a good experience overall. Not fancy but nice enough and in good condition.
It was better overall than other Ibis hotels with a very friendly staff ,a good breakfast buffet, and well located for us as we preferred not to be in the midst of the Royal Mile.
Thank you so much for all the recommendations! I'll look into them : )
I stayed at The George Intercontinental near St Andrews Square. I would not recommend it. It was rated as 5 star but it was not a 5 star experience. The furnishings were worn and the hallways not pleasant. Only one of two elevators worked for the entire 7 day stay resulting in long waits and dangerously overcrowded elevators. I have never stayed at a 5 star hotel that booked large tour groups and airline personnel but The George does—the lobby was crowded and noisy. The TV did not work properly the entire time -the audio would work but no picture or there would be a picture but no audio. I had to go out and buy basic essentials such as cosmetic puffs and ear swabs. The rates were 5 star level-$700 per night.
We just recently stayed at the B&B Edinburgh. I really liked it. It seems RS Tours stay there, too. We walked everywhere. If you like Indian food, Dishoom at St. Andrews square was quite the experience.
