I would appreciate a hotel recommendation. I will be disembarking from a cruise and need to catch an early morning flight the next day.

What time do you disembark from your cruise? Will you have time to sightsee in Edinburgh?
Since you have an early morning flight the next day, I can recommend the Edinburgh Dakota Hotel, which is about 10 minutes from the airport. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle van service to the airport for its guests. If you want to sightsee in Edinburgh after you check in, you could take a taxi to Edinburgh Old Town. They have an excellent restaurant!
If you prefer to be closer to sightseeing, I can recommend Ibis St. Andrews Square. It's a short walk to Old Town, the Royal Mile, and the Edinburgh Castle. And close to lots of restaurants. But it will be a longer drive to the airport the next morning.
We have stayed at both hotels, and we were very happy with them.

We always use the Moxy hotel at the airport. It’s a short walk to the terminal building.

I've stayed at the Hampton which is about a 5 minute walk to the terminal.
The tram from city center to the aiport is between the terminal and the hotel.

We stayed at the Sheraton last year and it was a great location. Walking distance to the Royal Mile, the castle, Grassmarket, and Newtown. It's nice having a bar that serves food and a restaurant on-site.
