Hotel in downtown Glasgow for 2 nights

Looking for suggestions of a hotel or B&B in or near downtown Glasglow on a Friday and Saturday night in early June. We have a late morning flight from Glasgow airport Sunday morning. Would like to spend Saturday exploring Glasglow downtown and immediate surroundings. Thanks!

I'd recommend the Premier Inn near George Square. You'll get a clean comfortable room, and you'll be close to Queen Street Station for public transport to the airport. The number 500 bus leaves from Queen Street on a regular basis. If there are three or more in your party, a taxi would cost about the same.

The bus runs every 15 minutes on Sunday, and costs eight pounds one way.

We really liked the Grasshopper Hotel, which is right above Glasgow Central Station, overlooking the roof with very little noise.

The 500 airport express bus serves this station as well as Queen Street Station. the downtown pedestrian zone is nearby, and one of the Charles Renny Mackintosh sites is just a block away. Well worth a visit.

Double rooms on weekends on June range from 108 to 148 pounds, with breakfast, depending on the date.

I too have stayed at the Premier Inn at George Square. I agree it very, very convenient. The staff was pleasant. The room was lovely. It's not quaint or cute, but you cannot beat the convenience.

I’ll second Lola’s recommendation of Grasshoppers Hotel for all of the reasons that she gives. Loved it!

Lola and Debbie, thanks for the Grasshoppers recommendation. I am heading back to Glasgow in August, and they have availability. Perfect!! At a great price.

Thank you!

Yay, Kim! I hope you enjoy Grasshoppers! I recommend getting a room on the station side, rather than the street side, supposedly quieter that way and the sight of the roof of the train station lit up at night, like a luminescent honeycomb, sticks with me to this day. I think the hotel provides great value for your money.

That's a great tip, Debbie, thanks! And that does sound very cool.
