has anyone taken the hop on hop off bus in Edinburgh and if so did you buy your tickets ahead of time or can they be purchased at the bus stop
If you search this forum you may find the post I recall from someone who liked that option in Edinburgh. I remember it because a lot of HO/HO comments are negative. I believe the poster made the point that Edinburgh is a hilly city (true), so having access to the HO/HO buses was often welcome.
When we were in Edinburg in 2010. We got on the bus and bought tickets on the bus. I believe we caught it by waverly station
You can buy them that day. No need to buy in advance.
If you want to save some money, buy a Day Ticket for the regular Edinburgh buses, and hop on and off at will.
I think it's 5 pounds for a 24 hour ticket.
Then you can see a lot more than on the tourist buses.
There's a phone app too, so you can plan routes and see realtime schedules.
