We will be in Scotland for 7 nights. I would like to stay 4 nights and 3 nights. My first thought was Inverness and Edinburgh. We will be flying in and out of Glasgow. The more I research the more confused I am. We are open to seeing everything. We just are not museum people. Want to see St Andrews as we are all golfers. Want to see the Highlands, but would really love suggestions and thoughts. BTW we are 4 adults and willing to walk, hike in moderation etc. Looking forward to your thoughts
Inverness and Edinburgh are good ideas. Rather than finding sccommodation in Inverness look at one of the smaller villages nearby. Beauly, Dingwall, Nairn or Strathpeffer are all possibles.
Do you plan to rent a car?
We stayed at a cottage for a week in Callendar. It worked well for us
I hope that you will not miss getting a great background for the places you'll see in Scotland. For example: Regimental Military displays showing Scotland's part in World History at Edinburgh Castle, and the Entertainment, Art and Scottish history at the not stuffy Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow.
Sorry, Yes we will be renting a car. I have been looking at locations and am now considering one week in one central location. A friend in Scotland suggested maybe the Stirling area, but I am not sure. Need to figure out what we want to see and the time and distance. Input appreciated.
Use ViaMichelin.com to get estimated driving times. They'll probably be optimistic.
I wouldn't want to spend all my time in the same place in Scotland. I think that's going to severely limit your range or lead to too much time sitting in the car.
This is where we stayed - not far from Sterling that someone else mentioned
