I've been reading the 2023 Rick Steves Great Britain guidebook. He mentions that the easiest route called the Radical Road is currently closed to reinforce rocks.
Anyone taken this hike recently? If so, work still ongoing? any signs of when it might be done. Thanks.
I looked it up and it's been closed for several years now because of safety concerns. One of the articles mentioned that there are plans to open up portions of it, but I did not see anything that showed that has been done. https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/environment/radical-road-beloved-edinburgh-footpath-around-arthurs-seat-could-be-permanently-closed-to-public-3661696
According to Rick Steves in this current book, it was being worked on.
It's very easy to find your route up Arthur's Seat and you don't need a book to show the way
Here is a recommended route from Walk Highlands
When we hiked up it was so foggy that the entire way was a mystery. We could only see enough of the trail to make our way bit by bit. Then, when we got on top we found many people there, but could not see much of anything. Certainly not the city. It was ghostly. You could hear people talking but could not see them.
There are many trails up. Look at AllTrails.

But a map may help.... The Walk Highlands website recommended by Skyegirl is what you need. Looking at the map you can see a lot of footpaths marked by grey dotted lines. Different people will have their own favourite routs up and down.
Thank you, Yes, a map just to know which route. i do not plan to take the steepest route up, I mapped it out on Google maps. What i was asking is.... Is the Radical Road open now. Or are they still working on it. Not how to map it or if I need a map. Is the Radical Road open. if you haven't been there recently and don't know. Don't reply. That would be helpful. Thanks
A quick google search confirms the Radical Road is still closed and will be until further notice due to the risk of rock falls. Historic Environment Scotland are responsible for the site. Historic Environment Scotland
