I'm interested in hiking the Highlands of Scotland this year. I'm looking at a couple hiking travel groups - but I'm trying to decide if I should do the West Highland Way or day hikes over the same distance on the Isle of Skye. Does anyone have experience in this and what would you recommend?
Thank you!!
There's also the Skye Trail ,it's about 80 miles long.
We've walked the West Highland Way but not the Isle of Skye. We did it as a self-guided but luggage transfer supported walk with bookings by Contours Walking Holidays. Contours booked accomodations, arranged luggage transfers, provided maps, guide book and detailed instructions.
West Highland Way is easy to do without a private automobile. We reached the start at Milngavie by local bus from the Glasgow bus station. Returned to Galsgow by the scenic West Highland Line train ride from Fort William. Contours can arrange the 95 mile walk with as few as 5 days of walking (14 to 21.5 mile days) to as many as 9 days (6.5 to 14 mile days). We did the easier 8 walking day version (9 to 14 mile days) didn't do any layover days.
