Hello. I'll be staying in Pitlochry when both the Perth and Aberfeldy Highland Games are scheduled to take place this year (2026). Has anyone been to either? I don't know how to choose one over the other to attend (can only attend one). Any tips or advice is much appreciated! Thank you.

The only games we have attended were the Braemar Gathering many years ago.
My impression is that the Aberfeldy games have a more local feel and include agricultural aspects. The Perth games are larger and attract international competitors.
Take a look at the schedules to see what events appeal to you. There may be an opening parade or closing ceremony or a special event during the day. Some activities occur throughout the day, usually highland dancing, and some have set times, like the athletic events.
Just be prepared for any type of weather. We had damo, drizzle, downpours and sunshine all in one day.
