We're taking a family vacation in Scotland in July (Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister-in-Law, and me). We will be in Edinburgh for a few days, then would like to head up to Highlands. Has anyone taken the Highland Experience Tours Ultimate Skye Experience? I'm debating whether to do this tour, or just to take the train to Inverness and day trip from there. We'll only have two nights in Inverness before I need to be back in Edinburgh to fly home. Any thoughts?
Sorry, Mullieanach here, the ultimate Skye experience is to go to Mull.
Tobermory not Portree
Duart not Dunvegan
Iona not ... Skye cannot compare.
Seriously, have a look at any trip to Mull rather than Skye.
With five people you should rent a decent sized car and take your self on your own ultimate experience. :) But if you truly only have two nights, then you might want to rethink. That is not much time. What is the overall length of your trip?
I'll be in Scotland for five days. We arrive in Edinburgh on a Monday morning, and I have to fly out on Saturday morning (my family will stay for a few more days). I was planning on two nights in Edinburgh, then heading up the Highlands on Wednesday morning. I need to be back in Edinburgh Friday evening in order to catch my Saturday morning flight. I was thinking a three-day tour in the Highlands might make things easier. What do you think?
