highland country

Looking for country charm with views. It looks like the highlands around Glencoe has it and will maybe use Glencoe as a base. What other towns offer country living with walking exploration that could be another base? How about traveling north? Was also thinking about Aberdeenshire.

There's nothing wrong with visiting Aberdeenshire. Our scenery may not be as wild and woolly as other parts of Scotland, but there's still plenty of it. Have a look at the following website for more information about Aberdeenshire as a whole

You could do worse than base yourself in Ballater or Braemar which are both in Aberdeenshire although neither are what I would refer to as a town, however they do offer country living. Both places are easily explored on foot and have nice walks nearby if this is what you are looking for

Don't forget Aberdeenshire stretches into the highlands. The Highlands are covered by Highland Council, Argyll and Bute Council, and bits of Stirling, Perth and Kinross, Aberdeenshire and Moray Councils.

For several years we based our selves out of Strathpeffer northwest of Inverness. You can get to the west coast from there or down to the Cairngorms or up to the Northeast. It's a Victorian Spa town. Later we stayed on the Black Isle just north of Inverness in Fortrose. One of my favorite hotels, The Anderson, is there.
