Hidden Gardens off of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh

Hi there,
Going to Edinburgh next week and i had heard of the hidden gardens off of the Royal Mile.
There is a lady that does tours, but she isn't available. She also had published a book on the subject, but it is no longer in circulation.

So, Does anyone know of some of the sites?

I thank everyone in advance.

this is a great link about all things Royal Mile, there is one garden I have been in near the Cannongate church (worth a visit) Dunbar Close, very nice though at this time of year things will be dying back quite a bit, there are great views over to Calton hill from there.
On the Royal mile there are so many little closes (small lanes) that open up to give some wonderful and interesting sites, do not be afraid to have a look, you will see terms like Close or Lands and often they open up into fantastic courtyards.
There are two great museums in this area of the Royal Mile, the museum of Edinburgh and the People's Story, both are worth a visit as they are free but also very interesting stuff about the life of ordinary Edinburgh people, the buildings themselves are worth the visit.
