Help with itinerary for Scotland for 9 days

Hey guys,

I am planning a road trip to Scotland for 9 days in August. After reading through the forums, guidebooks and websites, I have put together a tentative plan. Would be interested in comments/ideas/modifications. Am i trying to cover too much? I am interested in a bit of everything so castles, islands, highland scenery, distilleries.

Arrival - 19th Aug, Sat morning

Day 1 - Edinburgh (sleep in Edinburgh)

Day 2 - Edinburgh (Sleep in Ediburgh)

Day 3 - Drive to Oban (Sleep in Oban)

Day 4 - Side trip to Iona and Mull (Sleep in Oban)

Day 5 - Drive to Isle of Skye through Glencoe (Sleep in Skye)

Day 6 - Isle of Skye (Sleep in Skye)

Day 7 - Isle of Skye (Sleep in Skye)

Day 8 - Drive to Pitlochry through Loch Ness and Inverness (Sleep in Pitlochry)

Day 9 - Drive to Edinburg via Stirling

Departure - 27th Aug evening

Appreciate your help

I think your itinerary is good through day 7. When in Oban, consider taking the 3 isle tour which takes you to Staffa as well as Mull and Iona. I believe it's about 2 hours longer, but definitely worth it.

I can't comment on the last two days because I've never been to Pitlochry. I'm not sure if you'll have time for a stop in Stirling on the day you fly out. You'll need to allow plenty of time for traffic, returning the rental car, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely check out the 3 isle tour.

Should i remove a day from Skye and do Stirling instead?

DON'T remove a day from Skye. It's just beautiful and you don't have time to see everything as it is.

Ok great. I will stick to my original itinerary and drive straight to Edinburgh from Pitlochry.

If you have any other suggestions, I am all ears :)

Thanks a lot
