Help finding castle ruin in Scotland

SO this is a tough ask, but maybe I will get lucky. IN 1998 I took a trip to Scotland by myself. I found a really really neat ruin of a castle. It was on the east coast, i THINK north of St Andrews, but it MAY have been before. IT was pretty much a ruin, just a few walls rising out of the peninsula it stood on. It was not well marked, and did not have a parking lot etc. I just pulled over on the side of the road, hoped a fence and walked across a field. It was separated from the land by about a 7-8 foot gap, that was sheer, dropping into the surf/tide pools. Again the biggest thing I remember is that you could see the natural stone of the coastal cliffs (shale maybe) and then it would change over to the ruins of the walls. The only other thing is I recall it was near some sort of pottery or Wedgewood or crystal factory...I remember stopping there to look for a souvenir for my mother.

Anyone on this board have any ideas. I know if I saw pictures on google maps etc I would recognize it. Also for some reason, maybe it was on a calendar (circa 1998) of Scottish castles/ruins.
It was 100% not Dunnottar Castle.

That was not it. Similar look, but much steeper cliffs. I dont think there was any way down to the ocean within 50-100yards or more. It was sheer cliffs about 20-50 foot.

You might look up "sea glass" beaches in Scotland. Look at www.visitscotland.com for pictures of Castles near your location. By the way Wedgwood (sic) is in the Pottery District of England.

Not Newark either.

There was very little there. Just a few walls, and the main portion was maybe 2 story, but just a single wall, maybe a piece of the adjoining wall.

Seafield comes close for the condition, but it does not have the cliffs.

YOu could not reach the "tower" portion, it was completely isolated, separated by that 7-8 foot gap. I wanted to hop across so bad to get closer, but as I mentioned, I was alone, by myself. It is a very deserted area and I could just imagine laying at the bottom of the cliff as the tide came in with a broken leg! :)

This castle seems a lot like what you describe and it is on the East Coast. Just a guess.

I just saw a picture of another castle that fits the description and it's in the same area as Castle Sinclair, maybe this is the one.

I follow a facebook group called The Heart and Soul of Scotland and that's where I saw these pictures.
