Considering this tour in addition to Rick Steves Scotland tour in early May. Anyone taken this tour? And any input on guess what, the weather at this time of year in Scotland?
You have long days in May in Scotland. It can be chilly or the weather can be lovely. Whenever you travel in Scotland you need to think layers and always, always travel with a waterproof jacket.
Pam
seems a good tour, of course I have visited all these places at separate times undermy own steam but this does seem a good combination of things that might be a bit awkward and time consuming to do on your own.As Pam says plenty of daylight that time of year so you will be leaving and returning in daylight.might be a bit chilly early morning but take a light jacket ot fleece and you will be fine, you also may need a waterproof at that time of year, actually you always need a waterproof in Scotland
Hey Carol, please post your thoughts on the trip when you're back, we're scheduled to do it in June and would be interested to hear your thoughts.
Thank you for your replies. I am in the planning stages have not committed to anything yet as trying to determine whether last week April into the first week of May or later in May, watching airfares, RS tour dates, checking out accomodations etc. When I bring it all together and actually go I will definitely let you know how turns out!
I live only a few miles from Roslynn chapel and last visited in March last year with some friends of mine from Kansas city, it was the day after my 60th birthday and I got my first ever seniors discount at the Chapel.
I did this tour in September and really enjoyed it, but got rained on badly at Hadrian's wall. The wind was so strong that it was blowing the rain sideways, and one of our group slipped and fell in the mud. So, be prepared for rain, and wear good hiking/walking shoes.
