Has anyone used DayTrip in Scotland?

I am looking at transport options for the Highlands without a car, we hope. I keep seeing this company called DayTrip https://daytrip.com popping up in my search. Has anyone used them in the Highlands? It says I can book, but I can't find any reviews of their service. We are looking for transport for 4 from Fort William to Aberlour. Thanks!

they are not local. They advertise a lot and some people here advocate for them in many countries. I've never used them or any similar.

It seems to me that they work sort of like airbnb for drivers.

I'd want a local.

Have you looked at Rabbies small van tours?

I'd never heard of them until now.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a local" Nigel. The people driving for them would need to be local and licenced to drive a private hire car by their local authority. It's just another app that drivers can sign up to, same as Uber.

You'd wonder how many drivers they have signed up in the UK though.

I haven't used DayTrip (yet) but booked their services for transport between Vienna and Budapest later this year. Central Europe's a far bit from your Scotland inquiry, but FWIW can attest they've been very professional and proactive in sending confirmations leading up to our trip. As a heads' up, they will put the charge through upon reservation (not at time of service).

If you're looking for a more budget friendly option, you could take the Ember bus from Ft. William to Inverness. Then either private transfer to Aberlour or train to Elgin plus taxi or bus to Aberlour.

The Stagecoach bus #36 runs hourly from Elgin to Aberlour.

Ember Bus also connect hourly at Inverness into their Inverness to Aberdeen service calling at Elgin.

The #36 should be on the Scottish Highlands fare cap of £2 each from 23 March. The Stagecoach M96 and the 10 (both Aberdeen bound) also run hourly from Inverness to Elgin (should also be on the £2 fare cap), so there are 3 buses an hour on that route- in order of speed the Ember, M96 and the 10. The M96 is also coaches with toilets, the 10 is on every other service, with a double decker or two and the odd single deck citybus as well.
