St Andrew's Day is a strange beast. It is a holiday that isn't, the Kirk did not like Saints' Days. It is also in a strange part of the year for a National Day, the other Saints' Days in these islands are better placed in the calendar, David and Patrick are in March, George in April.

November is an odd place for a holiday like that in the northern bit of the northern hemisphere. That said two of the big Scottish holiday events are in January.
