We are four people who are will be in Portree,Isle of Skye mid August. We would like to make dinner reservations for a Sunday and a Monday evening. Any suggestions?
It is likely to come down to which restaurants actually have availability. I was just looking at the Bosville (which I'd recommend) and they have very little availability in August. My other recommendation would be the Antler Bar and Grill at the Portree Hotel. The View at Cullin Hills hotel comes top of the Trip Advisor list which made my husband and I raise an eyebrow as we consider it to be expensive and not very good! However, the list of restaurants on Trip Advisor also misses out Gasta at LAS Skye Candles Visitor Centre. It's just south of the village of Portree and does really good pizza. We live in Skye and go there frequently. No reservations needed as the restaurant is large.
If you can't get a reservation then there are two fish and chip shops, a chinese takeaway and a small COOP supermarket where you might get supplies for an 'in room picnic'.
Thank you. I am going to try to book online tomorrow. I appreciate knowing that there’s a big one that we could go into if we can’t get a reservation. We are looking forward to our trip to Isle of Skye.
There is also the Edinbane Inn, which has very good food. It's not that far from Portree (maybe 20 minutes?), and makes for a lovely night out. I just checked and it looks like they have reservations available on August Sundays and Mondays. https://www.edinbaneinn.co.uk/food-and-drink/
Thank you. We do not have a car so is it easy to get a cab or an Uber?
Bkh
Uber does not exist on Skye. You might be able to get a taxi but they are very limited. I'd suggest sticking to Portree. I'm assuming you have worked out how you will get around the island? The bus service is also pretty limited.
You won’t be finding Uber up there.
Adding a link to this topic as this person didn’t have a car in Skye and described what they were able to do.
