Glasgow to Islay

My family will be taking a day trip (yeah, I know, I wish it was longer) from Glasgow to Islay on August 1st. That's a Tuesday this year. I was wondering if anyone had ideas around how early I'd need to book airline tickets for that round trip flight? There will be 6 of us. Do it soon, or is it something that can wait until we get closer?

As early as possible. Is there any reason for doing this? A day trip to Islay for six by air could easily be over £1000, with thanks to security etc less than three hours.

If for any reason you decide to take more time and travel by land & ferry, I can recommend the Stonefield Castle Hotel near Tarbert in Argyll/Kintyre. It is a ca. 1830s aristocrat's country house situated with a lovely view of Loch Fyne. It is about a 3.5-hour drive from Glasgow Airport, and about a 10-min drive from the ferry terminal.

I understand there's a small airport in Tarbert, but if your goal is Islay there wouldn't be much sense landing in Tarbert and taking the ferry from there.
