I'm arriving Glasgow at 1600 on a Wednesday and need a hotel near the airport so I can take a train to Oban the next morning. Can someone recommend a good hotel, nothing fancy but clean. Then I need a recommendation which train station to take the next morning to get to Oban. Thanks for your suggestions.
It's Glasgow Queen Street for Oban. Arriving at 4pm I would get the airport express bus into the city. There are at least 3 branches of the Premier Inn chain within easy walking distance of Queen Street.
There are 3 morning trains to Oban- 0520 (unlikely you'll be on that), 0821 or 1036. The 0821 is the most likely you will be on. Better not to be on the airport bus in the peak morning commuter traffic.
A hotel near the airport? Wouldn’t you prefer a hotel near Queen’s Street Station where you'll catch the train? Z Hotel is a short walk away.
Why an airport hotel? You are missing out on the fun of downtown Glasgow. There is a Z Hotel (budget chain) very close to Queen Street station. Booking.com is quoting $57 for a single room (without window) in April. A slightly larger room with a window is $80. This is a well-regarded, modern/minimalist chain hotel, with a “Travelers’ Choice” award from Tripadvisor and an 8.3 “very good” rating on booking.com.
As others have said, I would definitely go in to Glasgow for the evening. A lot more fun, better options for dinner, and much easier in the morning.

If you're arriving at 1600, don't stay near the airport. Catch the airport bus to downtown Glasgow. It makes numerous stops. This way, the next morning all you have to do is get to the station for your train. No dealing with buses and traffic.
Plenty of hotels within a block or two of the train station.
Thank you everyone for great suggestions. Yes a hotel near the train.
The Z hotel is great. Have used it many times. Clean, comfy and safe. And convenient.
I stayed at the Point A in Glasgow and would definitely stay there again. It's a 12 min walk from the train station. If you join their membership club (just need to give them your email) you get an extra 10% off the room and a free breakfast. A windowless room on a random Wednesday in April is only £45! I actually liked my windowless room for one night - the bathroom was large and the room was very well thought out and had everything you would need. It was quiet and cozy.
