Hi! I'm looking for a room for a solo traveler in the West End of Glasgow May 28th and 29th. I've looked at all the RS recommendations but they're all booked. Any suggestions? Would like to spend around $80 US dollars or less.
Cheers!

The Glasgow YHA has a double ensuite for £50 a night for your dates.
It is located beside Kelvingrove Park.
Have you tried booking.com? Rick only lists a tiny fraction of the hotels in Glasgow.
The Albion Hotel has one single available through booking.com in your price range (perhaps more rooms or a lower cost by booking directly). Judging by the number of entries on booking.com with no price-filter set, it appears that limiting your area to the West End is creating a challenge. That area is not rich in lodgings.
I found a tiny room at the Argyll guest house but there’s a new hotel called Boutique 50 that just opened but it starts at $130 a night. I did the same search, thanks! Too old to stay in a hostel, ha ha!
Try Premier Inn, a cookie cutter British chain, with good rates.
Generally speaking, I think your budget would be OK for Glasgow. I don't know whether it's just your specific location needs or there is something going on for your dates. In August 2019 I spent three nights in a small, windowless room at the modern Point A hotel in downtown Glasgow for a total of 165 GBP; that did not include breakfast. The rate for your dates this year is 169 GBP prepaid or 189 GBP with a 7-day cancellation period (not terribly generous).
I would advise you to NOT stay at the Premier Inn Glasgow City Centre (George Square) location. The hotel was dirty and accommodations were below basic. Worst hotel of our three week trip.
$80 is only about 60 GBP. That is very low. Look more at guest houses and hostels for that price and not in the city center.
If you use Google Maps, and look for nearby lodging, you'll see lots of little dots, that are often places without online booking. That's how I find most of my favorite spots. Booking.com and the ilk all charge a hefty fee, which some smaller private places prefer to avoid, even at the cost of having vacancies. Search for them on the internet and you can sometimes find a simple website with an email or phone number.
Some of them go through the B&B Owners Association which has a list of contacts.
Try looking on Trivago
looks like plenty of options
Yes Booking.com via the VisitScotland came up with a lot of options as well.
Hostels these days often offer private rooms. That is what we booked when staying in Stockholm a couple of years ago. It's worth at least looking at any given hostel's website to see what they offer, especially given your low budget.
A simple search on Booking.com reveals quite a few places for that date.
Thanks for the suggestions, I was really looking for recommendations based on stays as well, I do know how to use the search engines ( ha ha) but wanted to rely on personal feedback. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Cheers!
