I will be flying into Glasgow just for one night before renting a car. I want to hurry and get out to the beautiful countryside. Since this will be my first day and relearning driving on the left side does any buddy have a good location for car rental and hotel near each other? Or is it best to rent one from the airport? I do want to spend a few hours downtown but a little bit concerned about driving the next morning from the downtown area Heading up to Glencoe.
You can take an express bus to and from the airport to central Glasgow.

I stayed at Grasshoppers Hotel, literally adjacent to Central Station. The express bus stops very close to the station; it would be a two-minute walk from there to the hotel. It's a great hotel!

The next day you could take the express bus back to the airport to pick up your rental car if you don't want to drive out of central Glasgow.
This fantastic thread started by Mardee about their trip earier in the year may help. The second post getting the hire car. It would be a lot less stressful out at somewhere like the airport or Arnold Clark as described to get accustomed to driving on the left. Both are relatively easy to get on the road out to the A82 for the West Highlands. It is a good travelogue thread as well.
