Glasgow: anniversary dinner recs

Hi - hoping people can recommend a good spot for dinner. Our last day of vacation is our anniversary, and just learned that it is a holiday there (May 6th) so didn't know how much this would impact reservations and such. Price isn't too much of a concern as my taste buds have never graduated from a child level, so something like a tasting menu can be my worst nightmare hahaha. So typically fancy places are a waste for me but my husband eats like an adult:) Looking for something that is consistently good in terms of overall experience, love fancy cocktails, interesting decor, etc. Live music is a plus but figured there is a slim chance of that on a Monday. So really open to anything - even just a great pub where the food is good quality, good drinks and a fun atmosphere to help delay the end of vacation blues! We are staying at the Carlton George but open to going to any section. No other plans yet for that day. Thanks!

A few years ago we took my parents to a nice anniversary dinner at this steakhouse, which is in an old bank. Loved the atmosphere and the food was good too. (If you are not looking for vegetarian, of course !! Steaks are excellent in Scotland if you like them.)

You should look at recent reviews since my experience there was so long ago. But worth looking into.

I would look at Two Fat Ladies @The Buttery, a Glasgow institution , really lovely and atmospheric inside , great food and good deals too if you go for the Set Menus.Best to get a taxi to it.

Thanks everyone for the recs!

@GerryM: Ubiquitous Chip is basically exactly what I'm looking for:) Unfortunately the restaurant is apparently closed on Mondays but I'm definitely going to go there on a different night - thanks!

Great! "The Chip", as it's known in Glasgow, is probably one of the best restaurants in Scotland.

i had really lovely meals at

  • eusebi deli (italian, great cocktails, i was craving a classic martini and hadn't seen any on menus and they made me an absolutely perfect one! the plates were also very cool, i wanted to steal one!) they look open mondays but not sure about the bank holiday.
  • gloriosa (mediterranean, atmosphere! vibes! people watching! font choice!) also open mondays normally

i did a quick reservation check on both and they seem open on your date! have a wonderful time in glasgow, i love it there and a lot of philly vibes :)
