Glasgow accomodations for 3 adults for 2 nights in late April

Hi all,

Three yankee gals are looking for recommendations for a bed and breakfast in Glasgow. The rest of our trip we'll be in hotels, so it would be nice to get some local flavor.

There are several museums we want to see in the west end so that's where we've been looking, but we're open to suggestions. We'd need two rooms, not one big one, for April 28-30. We'll likely have a rental car, which won't be used in the city center because I'm scared to drive there, lol. (And parking could cost as much as the car on some of the places we've seen on vrbo ...)

Any thoughts? We're really looking forward to seeing Glasgow!

Hi, cp,

I have to agree, driving in central Glasgow is not a whole lot of fun. It's not that bad, but with all of the new bus lanes, one way streets, and hills (murder if you're driving a stick shift and get caught at a red light!). it can be a challenge.

Anyway, there are lot of guest houses along Great Western Road (west of the Botanic Gardens) which describe themselves as "hotels". Best thing to do is to look for accommodation along Great Western Road. You'll probably be directed to one of those consolidators like booking.com or expedia. Check to see if there is anything that looks good. Then check the individual website. The guest house website may have a comparable or better price, and you can book directly with them.

The nearest stop for the "Clockwork Orange" from there would be Hillhead, on Byres Road.

Good luck, and best wishes!

Thank you, Mike! I'll take a look on Great Western Road.

I did a Google based on what Mike said, and I found this place. It's on Kelvin Drive. Couldn't ask for a better west end location, especially if you get one of their rooms overlooking The Botanic Gardens. Friends of mine shared a house on Botanic Crescent many years ago so I have fond memories of being around there. Doesn't fulfil your desire for a B&B, but, eh, might be a bit of a crapshoot getting a decent one in this day and age. It seems quite an old fashioned idea these days, particularly in a city, but maybe others can correct me.

Hi GerryM, this place looks perfect, it's small, and as close to a BnB as we'll get in that area. Thanks for the find!

Are you hiring a car just for the fun of parking it until you leave Glasgow?

Camborne2018, no. We'll have the car for almost the whole trip, a couple of weeks, driving around the countryside. I thought about handing in the car for the time we're in Glasgow and then re-renting one, but that's a hassle. It'll be good to have one handy in case we didn't get to see Falkirk and Stirling during the Edinburgh stay

We stayed 2 nights at "The Alamo" B & B. Located on a quiet side street across from the University of Glasgow. Parked the rental car on the street directly in front of the B & B. www.alamoguesthouse.com/
