I'm traveling to Scotland in a few weeks, and spending the night before my departure flight (back to the States) at one of the Glasgow Airport hotels. Is there a bus going directly from the center of Edinburgh to Glasgow Airport, or will I need to go into central Glasgow and take the bus/train to the airport?
No, you have to switch buses at Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station. Take the #900 from Edinburgh Bus Station. That will drop you on the middle stands at Buchanan. Then left then left again in the bus station when you come off the 900 to the side stands- Stand 46 to be precise for the bus #500 to Glasgow airport.
We ended our last trip in Edinburgh and flew out of GLA this May. We flew into Edinburgh from Shetland, and picked a hotel that was a short walk to Haymarket for a train to Queen St. Station followed by the bus to GLA. That let us enjoy a last night of great music at Digger's.
We took the bus from Edinburgh to the Brooks Hotel which was inexpensive at £137/nt, but was very nice with a good breakfast. It's in a very ethnic neighborhood which was a fun walk to Digger's and back. Having just returned from Shetland, there was coincidently a weekly meeting of the Edinburgh Shetland Fiddlers Club, which prolonged our joy.
