getting from Galway Ireland to Inverness or Glasgow Scotland

Planning a trip getting to Dublin and back from Edinburgh is done. I wanted to see Galway and then go to Scotland Inverness or Glasgow before ending in Edinburgh for my return visit and flight. I cannot seem to get a good route for departing Galway/Shannon. Ive checked British air and Aer Lingus and google flights with very little luck besides 15 hour layovers for this short flight.

What is best most direct way to get from West Ireland to central / north Scotland ?

It should be possible to get a connection from Shannon to Glasgow via London with a connection time much less than 15 hours. Or go back to Dublin and fly nonstop from there.

Fly Ryan Air Shannon to Edinburgh or go to Belfast or Dublin for more choices.

Do I understand correctly that you are flying from the US to Dublin, visiting Galway, then traveling to either Inverness or Glasgow, visiting Scotland and flying back to the US from Edinburgh? The most direct way to get between Galway and to Inverness or Glasgow is to return to Dublin and fly from there. There is a direct bus between Galway and the Dublin Airport. How long are you planning to stay in Ireland? One option would be to travel directly to Galway upon arriving, return to Dublin by train and visit the city, then fly to Scotland. If you have enough time, you could also travel to Belfast (by train from Dublin) and fly from there. Keep in mind that Belfast City Airport is the one you want, not Belfast International.

Edinburgh Aiport is a 75 minute bus ride from central Glasgow and they run every 20 minutes.

Closer than Dublin from Galway there is also Knock/Ireland West airport for Ryanair to Edinburgh on a Monday and Friday.
