Getting around Edinburgh with a rollator

Just curious if I should take my rollator to Edinburgh to help get around.
I will also be travelling through Northern England , but we will have a car.
Any tours anyone has been on with not too much walking ?

Yes, most definitely take it. Edinburgh is hilly, has areas of cobblestones and there is no guarantee that you will be able to park at the sites you are likely to visit. Depending on where you plan to visit in northern England you might experience similar conditions.
It would be worthwhile checking access details for the sites you are planning to visit and also checking out the location of reserved parking spaces for the disabled and specifically requirements for visitors to access the spaces.
Visits to places like Edinburgh Castle require a reasonable amount of walking once you are there. Having your walker will allow you to sit and rest as needed making for a much more enjoyable visit. Sorry unable to offer any suggestions regarding actual tours but it would be worth double checking your accomodation for the availability of lifts if stairs are likely to cause problems for you. Have a great trip, Edinburgh is a lovely city.

I'd agree to take it.

If it is at all like my wife's, a Dietz TAiMA GT, it is excellent inside buildings and on paved roads and pavement, pretty decent on pea gravel and rolled tree bark paths, but suffers on cobblestones, and is simply overwhelmed by French cobblestones.

Most cobbled or sett roads will have a paved pavement (sidewalk) on at least one side. Have a look on Google Maps Streetview.

I'd look at the websites of the places you are interested in and look for the words Access or Accessibility to see what adaptions have been made. For example, at Edinburgh Castle's plan a visit page the button on the right hand side leads to the Access Guide https://www.edinburghcastle.scot/plan-your-visit/access-guide Scroll down and you get a map of the Castle with an accessible route marked and lots of good guidance. That's fairly typical.

Happy travels.
