I would hire a car and drive , not an easy place to get to by public transport

James , I would rent a car at Edinburgh airport - driving in rural Scotland is very pleasant and will give you the flexibility to see the area in greater depth than rail or bus . Sue and I have been there on two trips and fell in love with Scotland , as many have , glad to hear that you are going . All our best to you and Paty , Sue and Steve .

Sue, Steve; thanks. We need to cross paths again soon. Last time I rented a car in a country that drove on the wrong side of the road it didn't work out too well. Too bad too, it was a nice car. I need to get from the airport to the hotel, then I will have absolutely no need for the car till the trip back 5 days later

Hi James,

While driving is definitely a great option, if you have no use for the car after you arrive in Swinton and if you are uncomfortable with driving on the wrong side of the road, then you also have the options of bus or train travel!

By train, you can leave from the Edinburgh airport, grab a tram from the airport to Edinburgh Park's railway and then take a 40-minute connecting train to Berwick-Upon-Tweed. From there, you can take the 67 and 12 busses that runs between Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Swinton, or you can take a taxi between the two towns.

Additionally, there are airbuses that run from the Edinburgh airport, and you can take the Airlink 100 bus, transfer to the Crosscountry Plymouth bus, and then take the connecting 67 and 12 busses.

If it were up to me, I would either drive or take the combination of tram, train, and taxi services to get between the airport and Swinton! These routes are the shortest and require the fewest transfers! I found this information using a combination of www.googlemaps.com, www.rome2rio.com, and www.bahn.com (for rail schedules). Hope this helps!
