Flying ORD to Scotland

Going on the best of Scotland tour in August 2026. Wondering if it’s worth flying into Edinburgh and taking bus to Glasgow to start the tour. Flights seem more plentiful and better price from ORD to Edinburgh.

We are going to do this tour in July and planning to fly round trip from STL (St. Louis) to EDI (Edinburgh). I have seen many more, and better flight options into EDI.

We are going 6 days early and renting a car to go down into northern England to explore Hadrian's wall along with other sites. Otherwise we would do the same as you are thinking, fly into EDI and take the bus or train to Glasgow.

It’s simple enough to fly into EDI and take the Citylink AIR bus from the airport to Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow. It takes about an hour.

The train is also an option but the bus is easier. I've done both. My suggestion is take the bus.

The bus stop is right outside the terminal.

I'm assuming you're looking at the nonstop United Airlines flight to Edinburgh.

Otherwise, I'm seeing connecting flights on American Airlines and British Airways for lower prices into Glasgow. It's a very easy connection at London Heathrow.

You could also fly into Glasgow and return from Edinburgh.
