Bought Virgin tickets to Edinburgh via Heathrow. Flybe, the connector to Edinburgh, has gone bankrupt. Virgin Air will refund Flybe or cancel all flights and refund. Suggestions for airlines from Heathrow to Glasgow or Edinburgh. My trip is in May.
British Airways offers the only nonstops between Heathrow and either Edinburgh or Glasgow.
Good to know. Big thanks fellow travelers
LNER also runs trains from London to Edinburgh. While the train takes a bit longer if you start at Heathrow, they have two large advantages that can actually shorten the trip. 1. They are frequent, every 30 min normally. 2. Flexible tickets can be cheap, especially if you travel outside rush hour. With an Anytime or Off Peak ticket you just board the next train to Edinburgh as soon as you arrive at the station.
Have you looked to see what flights on BA would cost all the way from home to Edinburgh? It may be less expensive than taking Virgin and switching to BA especially since you can cancel the Virgin flights.
