Flights to Inverness from Edinburgh airport

I plan to fly direct RT to Edinburgh from Atlanta next August. I will be on a RS Heart of Scotland tour which begins in Inverness. Because I can fly direct with Delta Skymiles, I hope to fly from Edinburgh airport to Inverness airport using an airline like Ryanair or Aer Lingus, etc. I'm asking you kind Scotland experts which airline I can book a one way flight with to Inverness. TIA for any advice!

Right now, there are no flights between Edinburgh and Inverness. If you can use Delta miles to AMS, that might be a better bet as KLM flies AMS to Inverness.

This wiki page shows which airlines serve Inverness. Scroll down to “Airlines and Destinations”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverness_Airport

I don't believe there are any direct flights between Edinburgh and Inverness- I would take the train (it's 3.5 hours). There is a bus as well which takes only slightly longer.

@Laura, this is perfect! I can use Delta Skymiles to fly to AMS with 6 hours to catch a KLM flight to Inverness. It also looks reasonable in price. The flight is 1hr 40 minutes vs. 3.5 hours for the train. Being jet lagged I wouldn't be able to enjoy the scenery from the train.

Both Delta flights will be direct which is heavenly!

I love this forum, everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable.

Judy B, that looks like a great plan. Changing in Amsterdam on a flight from US to UK is awesome. You stay in the non-Schengen part of the terminal so you do not need to go thru Immigration or Security! 6 hours is a gracious plenty in case there is a sooner flight to Inverness.

I've done this on 3 different flights - 2023 Spokane->Seattle->Amsterdam->Aberdeen and the reverse, then last month I did Spokane->Atlanta->Edinburgh and home Edinburgh->Amsterdam->Seattle->Spokane. All on Delta except the flights both years were KLM metal to/from Amsterdam-> Scotland.

Spokane just has one flight per day to/from Atlanta so coming home the timing wasn't right to route thru there which is why the inbound legs were via Amsterdam and Seattle.

@Pam,
Thanks for your information!

There’s a non-Schengen zone at Schipol? Will there be signs?
It’s a relief to know I can use my Delta Skymiles and save time by flying from AMS to Inverness.
