Finnich Glen experiences

Hi everyone!

This fall (Late September-mid-October) I'm taking the Rick Steves Best of Scotland tour. Before the tour officially begins, I'm considering taking this guided morning Viator excursion to Finnich Glen (the Devil's Pulpit) from Glasgow:

(Transportation to and from Glasgow is provided)

I've read that the entrance to the glen has become more challenging over the years, especially with its increased popularity after Outlander. Most of the information I've found is a few years old, so I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has visited recently.

I'm definitely up for a bit of adventure and don't mind uneven terrain or a moderately challenging hike. My biggest concern is avoiding an injury before my Rick Steves tour even begins!

Has anyone here done this excursion, or visited Finnich Glen recently? How difficult did you find the descent and climb back out? Did you feel it was reasonably safe if you took your time with a guide, or has the condition of the access become risky enough that you would recommend skipping it?

I'd really appreciate hearing your honest experiences, especially from the past year or two.

Thanks in advance!

We headed for Finnach Glen from Glasgow in 2022 and were underwhelmed. Parking was a total mess - lots of tickets being written, and everyone in the Glen was smoking weed. We're old hippies and were still totally turned off. When we were there, access was easy except for the parking.
